Rachel Corrie (ISM Handout) “Rachel Corey [sic], 23 years old from the state of Washington, was killed while she was trying to prevent Israeli army bulldozers from destroying a Palestinian home. Other foreigners who were with her said the driver of the bulldozer was aware that Rachel was there, and continued to destroy the house. Initially he dropped sand and other heavy debris on her, then the bulldozer pushed her to the ground where it proceeded to drive over her, fracturing both of her arms, legs and skull. She was transferred to hospital, where she later died. Another foreigner was also injured in the attack and has been hospitalized – at this stage his nationality is unknown.” (15 March 2003)
A press release from the International Solidarity Movement stated that:
“Rachel had been staying in Palestinian homes threatened with illegal demolition, and today Rachel was standing with other non-violent international activists in front of a home scheduled for illegal demolition. According to witnesses, Rachel was run over twice by the Israeli military bulldozer in its process of demolishing the Palestinian home. Witnesses say that Rachel was clearly visible to the bulldozer driver, and was doing nothing to provoke an attack.” (15 March 2003)
The photos below clearly show that Rachel was well marked, had a megaphone which removes any doubt that the activists’ presence was somehow invisible to the driver, and she clearly posed no threat to the bulldozer driver.

Rachel Corrie (L) and Nick (R) oppose the potential destruction of this home (to the west of the Doctor’s home where Rachel was killed). In the instance pictured, the bulldozer did not stop and Rachel was pinned between the scooped earth and the fence behind her. On this occasion, the driver stopped before seriously?injuring her. This photo was taken seconds after the bulldozer driver dragged his blade over her for the second time while reversingback over her body. He lifted the blade?as seen in the photo only after he had dragged it back over Rachel’s body. This image clearly shows that had he lifted his blade at any time he may have avoided killing her, as the bottom section of the bulldozer is raised off the ground. Photo by Richard Purssell. | Rachel in Najjar hostpital, Rafah, Occupied Gaza. Rachel arrived in the emergency room at 5:05PM and doctors scrambled to save her. By 5:20PM, she was gone. Ha’aretz newspaper reported that Dr. Ali Musa, a doctor at Al-Najjar, stated that the cause of death was “skull and chest fractures”. (Mohammad Al-Moghair) |
A later report from ISM Media Coordinator Michael Shaik in Beit Sahour offered more details about the events:
“The confrontation between the ISM and the Israeli Army had been under way for two hours when Rachel was run over. Rachel and the other activists had clearly identified themselves as unarmed international peace activists throughout the confrontation.
The Israeli Army are attempting to dishonour her memory by claiming that Rachel was killed accidentally when she ran in front of the bulldozer. Eye-witnesses to the murder insist that this is totally untrue. Rachel was sitting in the path of the bulldozer as it advanced towards her. When the bulldozer refused to stop or turn aside she climbed up onto the mound of dirt and rubble being gathered in front of it wearing a fluorescent jacket to look directly at the driver who kept on advancing. The bulldozer continued to advance so that she was pulled under the pile of dirt and rubble. After she had disappeared from view the driver kept advancing until the bulldozer was completely on top of her. The driver did not lift the bulldozer blade and so she was crushed beneath it. Then the driver backed off and the seven other ISM activists taking part in the action rushed to dig out her body. An ambulance rushed her to A-Najar hospital where she died.”

“This is a regrettable accident,” Israeli Defence Forces [sic] spokesman Captain Jacob Dallal was reported as saying in Ha’aretz newspaper. “We are dealing with a group of protesters who were acting very irresponsibly, putting everyone in danger.”
Members of the Israeli army and associated Israeli settler paramilitary units have been responsible for the killing of 2,181 Palestinians and the injuring of another 22,218 between 29 September 2000 and 14 March 2003.
In addition to the killing of Rachel Corrie by the bulldozer driver, Israeli troops have shot and killed several other internationals in different incidents during the Intifada: German doctor Harald Fischer, Italian cameraman Rafaeli Ciriello, and British United Nations worker Iain Hook.
Tom Hurndall from England
It is with great sadness that If Americans Knew shares with you the news of the passing away of Tom Hurndall.
Tom, 22, died Tuesday night in a London hospital due to complications with pneumonia. He had spent the past nine months in a vegetative state after being shot in the head by an Israeli sniper on April 11, 2003, while trying to escort children to safety in Rafah, Gaza Strip, Occupied Palestine.
Tom was a member of the International Solidarity Movement, a Palestinian-led effort to bring internationals to the Occupied Palestinian Territories to aid the civilian population in non-violent resistance to the occupation.
At a hearing on Monday, a soldier arrested last week in connection with the shooting of Tom Hurndall, has finally been indicted on six charges : Aggravated Assault; two counts of Obstruction of Justice; Incitement to False Testimony; False Testimony; and Improper Conduct. A second soldier has been detained and is expected to be indicted on charges of Obstructing Justice and False Testimony.
As we grieve the death of Tom, let us not forget the ongoing catastrophic situation in Palestine that he was working to end. In fact, since he was shot, 407 Palestinians have been murdered and 1,990 have been injured. As Tom’s mother, Jocelyn, wrote recently in the UK Guardian, “It seems that life is cheap in the occupied territories. Different value attached to life depends on whether the victim happens to be Israeli, international or Palestinian.”
We ask that you write letters to the editor of your local newspaper regarding this incident. If your paper covered it, please thank them and ask them to report more on the plight of the Palestinian people. If your paper did not cover it, admonish them for it and demand to know why they consider Tom’s life, like so many in Palestine, unworthy of mention in their pages. Remember, as always, polite, concise, and to-the-point letters are more likely to be published.
For more information regarding Tom, please visit http://www.tomhurndall.co.uk/.
And there are many more Peace Worker, who were killed in Palestine. They died for Peace. These People are Herors!May God bless their Souls

Woman was made from the rib of man,
She was not created from his head to top him,
Nor from his feet to be stepped upon,
She was made from his side to be close to him,
From beneath his arm to be protected by him,
Near his heart to be loved by him.![]()

Once a Women sat on the airport. She needed to wait for her plan cuz he was belated. Then she bought a package with cookies and sat down on a chair. She bagan to read a book and a Man came and sat next to her.He began to take a package with cookies and he ate from it. The Woman became very angry but she didnt say anything. She looked at him and thougt by herself: “Confound his impudence! What for an unpolite guy! Didnt his parents educate him right? He is eating all my cookies without any shame!”
He ate and ate and the Woman ate too. She became very very angry but nevertheless she didnt do anything. At the end there was just one cookie. The Man was a little confused so he took the last cookie and broke it into 2. He gave her one piece and the Women took it and went with arrogance. She didnt look at him, hust took her back and went into her plan.
When she took out her book to go on read it,she remarked that there was a whole package with cookies. Then she knew, that the man didnt eat her cookies, but his. Not he was the unpolite Man with no shame, she was.
The Woman feld very ashamed but she couldnt do anything. She wanted to go to him &say sorry but she was already on the plan and probabley she will never see him again…

What do you see
when you look at me
Do you see someone limited,
or someone free?
All some people can do is just look and stare
Simply because they can’t see my hair
Others think I am controlled and uneducated
They think that I am limited and un-liberated
They are so thankful that they are not me
Because they would like to remain ‘free’
Well free isn’t exactly the word I would’ve used
Describing women who are cheated on and abused
They think that I do not have opinions or voice
They think that being hooded isn’t my choice
They think that the hood makes me look caged
That my husband or dad are totally outraged
All they can do is look at me in fear
And in my eye there is a tear
Not because I have been stared at or made fun of
But because people are ignoring the one up above
On the day of judgment they will be the fools
Because they were too ashamed to play by their own rules
Maybe the guys won’t think I am a cutie
But at least my filled with more inner beauty
See I have declined from being a guy’s toy
Because I won’t let myself controlled by a boy
Real men are able to appreciate my mind
And aren’t busy looking at my behind
Hooded girls are the ones really helping the Muslim cause
The role that we play definitely deserves applause
I will be recognized because I am smart and bright
And because some people are inspired by my sight
The smart ones are attracted by my tranquility
In the back of their mind they wish they were me
We have the strength to do what we think is right
Even if it means putting up a life long fight
You see we are not controlled by a mini skirt and tight shirt
We are giving only respect, and never treated like dirt
So you see, we are the ones that are free and liberated
We are not that ones that are sexually terrorized and violated
We are the ones that are free and pure
We’re free of STD´s that have no cure
So when people ask you how you feel about the hood
Just sum it up by saying ‘baby it’s all good’

The Dignity of a Woman
Many people use the Word “Dignity” without known the meaning of it. Honour, Proud…What does the words really mean from which we say we understand them? It are more then just Words. But in this article i´m writing especially about the dignity of a Woman. A girl said once, that she has got dignity even if she walks half-nacked throw the streets with mini skirt and a Top with V-neck. But is this really so? Does such a girl has really dignity? What does she show with such a Appearance?
Is it dignified to be considered as a Toy or a piece of meat?Is it dignified that any man are watching you just becuz of ur Looking? Is it dignified to be aknowledge as a Sexobject which is there to serve the Men?
Maybe such a Woman has got self-confident(but then just a less if she cant be herself) but dignity?
Self-confident means to be confident from yourself but dignity means to look at the things from eye to eye, to be staunch and to show your Opposite that You are a person which deserves respect and so he will respekt You. A Girl who walks half-nacked thorw the streets and will be pulled by any guys is not respected- no-she will be downgrade as an Object at the moment when the guy is watching her like a piece of meat. So her dignity dissapears, cuz she wont be respected by her Opposite.
But if a Woman walks with her veil thorw the streets she singnales the Men-which has got from the Nature a “hunterinstinct”-that she isnt a cheap prey which serve the men but she shows that she is a Godfearing Woman which has got Dignity and which doesnt let make herself a chep object.
Maybe any people are saying rasisstic things but this doesnt mean, that he is downgrade her- rather she walks with Dignity and Proud and with this behavior she shows: “ I dont care what You say, i am what i am and i´m proud to be this what i am (a dignified and Godfearing person!)!”
People, who has got nothing better to do just to insult muslims at the streets just becuz they dont look like you are the one which has no dignity.Cuz they will be downgrade throw the ignorance of their Opposite.
So,this was just a little comment about the dignity of a Woman…
